I know its still very early and contract issues have time to change, but how low do you rank him with his risk management has stated they arent going to offer a new contract and he still has 2 years on his deal
current im the 9th pick and want to go RB
i expect foster, mccoy, rice, matthews off the board depending on the people before me, if they go CJ and MJD falls to me at 9, am I dumb to pass on him bc of these issues? after seeing CJ do so poorly after missing camp bc of hold out and with MJD having a lot of miles on him, I feel this is just increasing the chance of a poor season for him do I pass on him and go with my next top RB (prolly either richardson or mcfadden) o
i know no one truly knows at this point, im just looking for some thoughts and seeing how others feel with his situation
I was cautious about MJD before he started to holdout because of his work load over the last couple of years. I think the end of round 1 is where he will go. I would rather take Brady.
If it's a 10 team snake, I would consider Brees/Brady there. I don't like MJD one bit this year, and then you have a pick coming right up where you can get an RB just as good as at that 9 spot. The top 8 or so would look something like this:
Foster Rice Rodgers McCoy Megatron Mathews CJ Brees/Brady
I say if something like this happens, lock up a top 3 QB and you'd have Richardson or DMC should be there at 12
His dispute won't last long, he has no leverage and the Jags have already paid him, he needs to play out contract and will realize this. He should get drafted normally IMO, I just don't like the tread on the tires and would rather have McFadden or CJ1K.
He should be solidly in your 4-6 RB range, and if he falls to the end of the first round, consider it to be a gift. His holdout will not last much beyond the 1st preseason game, and he will be ready for week 1.
I'm dropping him out of round 1 at this point. Looks like both sides are locked in and no one wants to budge. I honestly think both sides have an argument to support their position - rarely do I side with a player in such a dispute because a deal is a deal but MJD realizes he's been over worked and relatively underpaid.
