Forte Keeper Question

Postby thefantasytutor » Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:17 pm

OK, so I am in a 10-team PPR Keeper league. Having won the league last year I have the last pick of the first round and the first pick of the second round. I am already keeping Stafford and Hernandez for late round picks. My question is:

Is it worth it to keep Matt Forte at that #10 pick? The fact that it is a full PPR is tempting me. I don't know if I want to lock myself into Forte as my #1 pick though just in case a stud like Chris Johnson falls to me. Thoughts?

Some top guys being kept by other teams are:
Ryan Mathews, Jimmy Graham, Cam Newton, Rob Gronkowski, Marshawn Lynch, DeMarco Murray, Wes Welker, Julio Jones, AJ Green and maybe Brees.

Thanks for correcting the post

My thoughts on Forte is he wont perform up to what he did in the past. 1) you now have a solid #2 in Bush which Chicago grabbed for Leverage against giving him his due contract. 2) Other than getting a decent deal with another team next year why would you put 100% into a team that doesnt respect what you have done for them.

If it were me I would estimate my true worth contract wise then give them the same % of effort as they gave me on a contract.

I would not keep him. I think you can get him anyway in the 1st or 2nd. ;-D

my philosophy on keepers is value is more important than talent. I prefer not to keep a guy where he would be naturally drafted. I'd not keep him there.

Yes Forte is worth it. Most of the top backs will be kept. The rest will be drafted before your pick.Forte is a solid back and the fact that is PPR makes him even more valuable. Most of his TDs are from outside the redzone so Bush won't hurt him much.
10 Team PPR predraft
QB- Aaron Rodgers
RB- CJ Spiller, Marshawn Lynch
WR- Jordy Nelson, Michael Crabtree
TE- Jimmy Graham
LB- James Laurinaitis
DL- Corey Liuget
DB- Harrison Smith

In a PPR league I would keep Forte at that pick. He won't likely score many TDs, but he should be reliable for good total yardage and 4 to 5 receptions a game. Its important to realistically consider who you could get at that pick.

Considering Chris Johnson's ADP right now is at 1.07 in PPR leagues according to fantasycalc I don't think he will make it back to you at 10th. In fact, you have to consider Johnson as going at 1.06 because Ryan Mathews is going before him and will not be available. The only condition you should throw Forte back is if you're sold on Darren McFadden as he could be the best RB option in addition to Forte when you draft.

Being a fellow-owner of Forte, who had NO PROBLEM AT ALL with deciding to keep him once he signed his new contact - I have to say KEEP HIM....he's that good. ;-D :-L

I say keep him. With all the top RBs being kept and the position being thin this year, it's doubtful he makes it to 10. And since it's a snake, anyone who might fall to you at 10 will be there at 11.
