Drop Urlacher?

Postby Philly_05 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:09 pm

Just from my initial sifting through IDP rankings it seems like Urlacher is my odd man out. This is how my IDP is setup I keep my starting lineup. I also have Clay Matthews and LaMar Woodley but I see Urlacher above both of those two. Then none of them above Bowman, Dansby, Miller and Beason. What do you guys think?

LB- NaVarro Bowman
LB- Karlos Dansby
DE- Jason Pierre-Paul
DE- Adrian Clayborn
DB- Eric Weddle
DB- Patrick Peterson
DB- Antrel Rolle
DP- Von Miller
DP- Jon Beason
QB- Roethlisberger, Rivers, Foles
RB- McCoy, Lynch, L James, Ivory, F Jackson, D Thomas, Turbin
WR- Julio, Bowe, D Bryant, D Jax, Amendola, Broyles, Gordon, Hill
TE- Celek, D Allen
DEF- Giants
K- Zuerlin
D- D Washington, S Weatherspoon, L Kuechly

In 2010 Urlacher actually scored alot better than Beason. Add in that Beason missed an entire year with a torn achilles and now he also has James Anderson one on side who finished 5th LB in my league a year ago and the 9th overall pick Kuechly on the other side of him, I think that caps his upside because there's only so many plays to be made.

I think I'd keep Urlacher over him and probably over Dansby too.

Urlacher is a lot older than those guys but with IDPs being so easy to replace I tend to just look at the immediate future there.

One of the best things about IDP is you can play matchups and move guys around and still have reasonable results. For instance, in my first year, I ran Desmond Bishop and Curtis Lofton for the first nine weeks but due to a crowded roster, I had to set them both free into FA and lost them both. I added Fletcher and Von Miller and didn't lose much production at all. It could be as simple as losing guys that give you consistent tackles to guys who force fumbles and get INTs. It will balance out. If it comes down to Urlacher and say, Woodley, take Urlacher and go for it even with his knee issues.
