Texans’ Watt will ‘miss some time’ with elbow injury

Defensive end J.J. Watt evolved into a for-real overnight sensation as a rookie in 2011, and he reported for his second Texans training camp, in his words, “much bigger, much stronger and much faster.” But the additional size, muscle mass and foot speed couldn’t get Watt through the first week of practice unscathed.
His left arm got caught in a bad place during a morning 11-on-11 session Thursday, and he suffered a dislocated elbow that will sideline him for the near term. The news could have been a lot worse, though. A relieved head coach Gary Kubiak went so far as to suggest the Texans had “dodged a bullet,” just as they had previously with Andre Johnson and Duane Brown.
“We’re very, very fortunate,” Kubiak said. “When it dislocates, there are some other things that can happen, but they didn’t. The great news is he’s going to be fine.”
