Det RB situation, Kevin Smith or Javid Best?

Postby nightfox422 » Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:47 am

Smith or Best, who is going to be the guy this year?

Its starting to look like smith is the guy early, and maybe Best will show up later?

It's a mess to be honest, it'll be Kevin Smith everyone is hyping early, but then it will become a mess later when backs get healthy. DET is a true carousel so I'm avoiding until final rounds.

Leshoure O:-)

Best will be lucky to see the fields this year(if ever again). Even if he does it will not last long. Smith may get carries just by default(at least the first 2 games while Leshoure is suspended) and to keep Leshoure fresh. But as long as he can stay healthy Mikel will be the RB in Detroit.

Agreed. And Leshoure may end up being a viable #2 RB if he can stay healthy. Smith will get the first crack, barring the addition of an outsider. A strong possibility, methinks.

From those who watched him in college and got to actually see, how is Mikel's receiving prowess?

Question for all the Detroilet fans: If Smith impresses in the first couple weeks will the Lions actually take away his carries and give them to Mikel or would they stick with him as a #1 til he faulters?
I drink because of the 1998 NFC championship game.

I don't remember him being used much as a receiver in college, not that he wasn't. Didn't see that many of his games. I do recall the Lions being very surpised at how fluid he was coming out of the backfield catching passes. Sounded pretty promising. I Leshoure hope he can stay healthy and show us what he's got.
