Which is a better pick in a 10 team draft, 5 or 8 ?

Postby eromano33 » Sun Aug 12, 2012 11:19 am

Hello all-
I'm drafting tonight with my league with some high school friends and I currently am picking in the 8 spot; However I was offered to switch to the 5 spot for the whole draft- I would pick 5 all the way through and he would take my 8 spot. I'm thinking I want to try to grab Calvin, Chris Johnson, or Brees in the first round, and come away with two of Cam Newton/Matt Forte/Darren McFadden/Julio Jones in the next two rounds. In general, which spot is better? Where should I pick?

I like 8, because you can plan what guys 9 -12 would probably do in later rds. meaning if you need a QB, but there is an attractive RB/WR in the 5th and guys drafting in the 9,10,11, and 12 already have a QB you know that they will pass on another QB and score you get the RB/WR they would draft and still get your QB....I've seen this happen alot in my 10 years of FF. But you will need a very good draft grid on your pc to keep track of what they would possibly target.

In the 5 hole, there is no way to plan based on others needs of what may return to you in the next round.

***just realized this was a 10 Teamer, thus throw my vote out and my reasoning out and try this...

the 5th spot because you will have a chance at Rodgers

5,15, 25, 35 vs. 8,12,28, 32 (I think it is pretty much the same, but 8th will not net you Rodgers.
