I'm trying to work out a deal right now to upgrade at TE...I've been talking to an owner about doing McGahee and Pettigrew for Hernandez and Spiller. Hernandez would be a huge pick up, I'm just worried about my RB2 right now, but Spiller would be nice to pair with Fred Jackson. What do you guys think about this move? It's a 10 team non-ppr league and we can start 2 RB's, no rb flex...my team is below:
QB: Romo, Freeman RB: Rice, F. Jackson, D. Martin, McGahee, Ingram WR: Fitz, Julio, Djax, Malcom Floyd, R. Moss, T. Young TE: Pettigrew, Tamme
If the other owner agrees to that deal I would certainly pull the trigger. Pettigrew being upgraded to Hernandez is huge as the Lions don't use the TE as much and being able to handcuff Jackson and Spiller is a good idea given Jacksons injury issues and he is 31.
I like the trade for you. 2 starting RBs and no FLEX means that it isn't as important to have 4-5 starting RBs. You have a great 1-2 with Rice and FJax, and Martin is a very good 3rd RB. I like that you are upgrading your TEs, and you don't really lose much in the RBs. You pick up the handcuff to the old guy, and you weren't going to start Willis much anyways.
He wants me to throw in Jacob Tamme and he said he would most likely accept then...I could always pick up a decent backup TE if I need to, what do you guys think? I wouldn't really need Tamme anyways if I got Hernandez, so right now I'm thinking this would be a great upgrade at TE...hopefully Fjax and Doug Martin will be enough to get solid production from my RB2 spot, I was thinking McGahee could serve as another alternative but getting Spiller would be nice to go with Fjax...should I do this trade with Tamme involved?
Owens could have a bounce back year if healthy, the rest have nice upside....and you still get the best player in the deal in Hernandez. For what its worth, i dont have Spiller far behind McGahee overall....and Spiller has far more upside.
