Welker for Forte?

Postby mbhosler74 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 5:32 pm

I am heavy at the RB positions, with Forte, Bradshaw, Gore, and throw-ins McGahee and Hightower. A team very weak at the same position offered me Wes Welker for Matt Forte. While I don't forsee Welker duplicating 1500+ yds with 9 TD's, he is still Brady's go to target. Since I have Brady as my QB, does the risk of giving up a top 5-10 RB for Welker. The point differential from last year is significant, and Forte has to share more carries this year with the Bears signing Michael Bush. Anyone have any advice for me?

Also, PPR league. My receiving corp is this: Brandon Lloyd, Eric Decker, Denarius Moore, Nate Burleson, Jabar Gaffney, and David Nelson. I like Decker a lot, but I already have Pats receivers Lloyd and Gaffney. I have Brady, so adding Welker never hurts. I'm not so sure that giving up Forte is the right move here.

You have a lot of depth, but nobody that I'd want to rely on at RB. You need Forte to be your top-rb.

Keep Forte, I'd want more than just Welker for him.

I keep Forte over Welker. He won't duplicate those numbers. The biggest thing Bush will take is redzone touches, but Forte has never been the redzone guy. Bush isn't "stealing" those touches, because how could he steal them if Forte never got them? Forte will just continue not to get them. Forte's numbers will drop a big but that's just from having an established backup to ease the load. Slight dip for Forte, not too much to where I'd give him up for Welker straight across. I used to be a Forte hater, but I've thought about it more, and I like him. I don't expect a monster breakout year where he is the top dog in all of fantasy, but he will still be very good.

This year he's going to score....motivational factor.
KEEP FORTE. Hightower will be ww fodder, matter of fact I think you could do better.
Don't stack with Pats WR. I'd also consider punting Gaffney for another WR what is available?
