Antonio Gates for Brandon Marshall

Postby antidid4 » Thu Aug 16, 2012 10:46 am

I was offered Marshall for Gates in a 10 team 1 QB league.

I have Andre Johnson and Steve Johnson as my starters with R. Moss, R. Randle, and G. Little on the bench. The draft did me no favors for WR.

I also have B. Pettigrew as my bench TE. I know he'll get plenty of touches but I feel Gates has the higher ceiling w/ V. Jackson now gone. Plus with how mercurial Marshall can be dangerous.

So should I accept the trade?

Gates is getting old and constantly injured. Marshall is getting a QB upgrade back with Cutler who he had his best years with. Do it.

Marshall might have a better year than Gates statistically. But, your gain from WR3(Marshall)-W4(Moss) is not gonna be bigger than your loss of TE position of Gates to Petigree.

So that should be your mindset, not who is better, its the difference between gain vs loss. Do you think Pedigree will hold enough value to lose Gates.

I get this mindset. But, you can't just compare it like that. You have to take all the players into account. IMO, Marshall/Pettigrew >>>>Johnson/Gates.

Also, TE is a position that alway seems to have a break out type of guy every year. So if you're good on the waiver wire, you can replace a Pettigrew type with an up and comer.
