Playing in large league (14 teams)

The past 10 years I have only played in 10 team leagues - not planned or anything, that's just how it worked out.

I'm about to be in a 14 team league. How do you guys adjust your draft strategy for larger leagues?

In a 10-team league, I'll pick by position for my first 6 rounds, then pick best available after that. In a league this large, the valuable players will be off the board a lot sooner. I'm considering drafting according to highest value from round 1. I may even aim for Rodgers or Brady in rd 1. Everyone else drafts RBs, bc they're in short supply, but I think that they forget that in a large league you can't be strong in more than 2 positions. Also, point totals per game drop, as your RB2, WR2, etc... are generally not going to be studs. So, rd1 take a stud QB, rd2 take a stud WR. I get my butt kicked at the RB position every game, but make up for it in the passing games.

I know, running wins championships.

Any thoughts?

This is my 4th year in a league of 14 teams. I like it way better than smaller leagues. My drafting strategy has been to go RB with my first 2 picks then a combo of 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR over my next picks. So after 7 rounds I have 1 QB 3 RB 3 WR and then I take a TE in the eighth round. This 14 man strategy has always worked for me because RB is thin. I've made the playoffs every year using this strategy. For reference this year I had the 14th pick and drafted like this

i personally don't adjust my strategy in the early rounds much. Where I change things is starting round 10 or so. I almost completely avoid safe/veteran players and go for high upside or handcuff players. One of them usually hits it big and makes up for a deficiency I have in my Starting line up. Last year I took Jordy Nelson. It worked out well!
