CHARGERS: McClain will do a little of everything for Bolts

SAN DIEGO ---- Le'Ron McClain signed with the Chargers this offseason and said all the right things. Despite a productive history running the football, he came here to be a blocking fullback.
The comparisons to since-departed hybrid back Mike Tolbert started immediately, and McClain was the first to brush them aside despite an obvious similarity in skill sets.
That's because McClain has no interest in being like Mike. He brings his own bruising style to the fullback position, and was brought in to lead feature back Ryan Mathews into the fray.
But the best-laid plans often go awry.
Mathews broke his clavicle in the preseason opener and will be out the longer end of the team's 4-6 week estimate.
That leaves the Chargers rushing by a committee that now includes McClain. He has gotten increased reps at running back this week and will see time at both positions on Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys at Qualcomm Stadium.
