What should I offer for Jimmy Graham?

Postby eromano33 » Sun Aug 19, 2012 3:37 pm

I want to upgrade my roster before the season starts. I'm in a ten team h2h league, non keeper, non ppr with 9 other guys from my high school class. I talked to the Graham owner and asked him what he wants, and he said to surprise him with an offer. I can't figure out what to send, but I do want to upgrade my roster and try to add Graham if it would make sense. I'll give you my roster and his, and let me know what you would offer if you were me. I am also considering picking up some FAs, such as Jermaine Gresham, Austin Collie, Alshon Jeffrey, Ryan Williams, and Kevin Smith. Let me know what you guys would do/offer.

My team:

QB: Matt Stafford
RB: Jamaal Charles
RB: Trent Richardson
WR: Calvin Johnson
WR: Percy Harvin
TE: Jared Cook
W/R/T: Doug Martin
K: Garrett Harley
DEF: Chicago
BN: Desean Jackson
BN: Demaryius Thomas
BN: Roy Helu
BN: Jacob Tamme
BN: Jay Cutler
BN:Rashard Mendenhall

His team:

QB: Eli Manning
RB: Chris Johnson
RB: Steven Jackson
WR: Andre Johnson
WR: Vincent Jackson
TE: Jimmy Graham
W/R/T: Robert Meachem
K: Matt Prater
DEF: NYJ
BN: Michael Bush
BN: Ben Roehtlisberger
BN: Ben Tate
BN: Randy Moss
BN: Coby Fleener
BN: Reggie Wayne

I think you could have the starting offer of Thomas and Martin for Graham and Tate. He needs a flex play and an upgrade at WR2. I do not think any of those free agents are worth picking up.

you think I could get away with asking for someone other than tate? If that was accepted, then I should probably drop Cook for someone right? no point in carrying 3 TEs.

I'd try to trade Djax, Mendy and either of your TE's for Graham. See what happens.

If the trade doesn't work out though, drop your back-up TE and pick up Ryan Williams or Kevin Smith (potentially two starting RB's and one on a high end offense!).

I like Tate and think he is undervalued this season. Last year he had an average of 5.4 yards per carry and an average of 3.3 yards after contact. He will put up solid flex play numbers in a 10 team league. If your not a fan though, I would put in Wayne instead of Tate.
If the trade was accepted I would drop Cook and add Collie. I would also look at trading Tamme for a sleeper running back.

Would stafford/calvin/Ksmith be too much from one offense though?

Would Brady/Gronk/Lloyd or Rodger/Jennings/Nelson or Vick/McCoy/Maclin?

If they are the best option, and particularly if one is on your bench for depth, trade prospects in the future, why would you pass on someone just because you have other players from the same team?

It depends on the offense. 3 players from the Colts offense is too many. 3 players from the Niners offense is too many. 3 players from the Lions/Packers/Saints/Patriots is not. Years ago, I started 3 Vikings. Last season, out of necessity, I started Cruz and Nicks every week Nicks was healthy. It was something I worried about, but in hindsight, it wasn't an issue. Down weeks suck, but if that's how the cards fall while building your team then you'll be fine with the 3 starting RB/QB/WR from a top offense. It's not ideal, but sometimes it is the best way to go because you're not going to blow up your roster because the best waiver moves bring more players from the same good offense.

OK So I'll try Mendy/Desean/Cook for Graham for now and see what he says.

Sent Helu/Mendy/Desean and he laughed. He's not accepting a garbage offer
