Where do I take Ben Tate? Whir

Postby bearsfanatic » Wed Aug 22, 2012 2:03 pm

So I have 1st pick in a 14 man league and plan to take Foster. Ive done quite a few mock drafts and its about a 50/50 split as to if Tate is there in the 6th. (where I was hoping to get him). My routine thus far has been to take Foster (1), RB2,(2) WR1(3), a WR or TE depending on who's available(4) and then a QB in my first 5 rounds. This leaves me praying for the next 27 picks that Ben is there in the 6th. I hate having to give up that 5th pick for him, but know he's a must have handcuff. Would you guys grab him in the 5th, or would you just hope hes there in the 6th and move on if hes not.

Thx .. leave a link and I'll whir

5th round is too soon to draft Tate. As much as you want to have him, your team is better off if you grab a quality pick in the 5th round. This guy who you pick in the 5th will probably be a starter for you. Tate's a great insurance policy, but I'd wait on him.

Agree. I know that as a Foster owner, having Tate just makes the world seem to run smoother. But that is a terrible reach in rd5. I would more likely go with a QB there. Then if Tate is there at 6, and you don't feel confident of him being there 27 spots later in rd7, then take him then.

Yeah, round 5 is definitely a reach... I try and grab him around the 7th-8th round...

Tate is falling to the late 6th in most drafts. Honestly, it's a bad idea to reach for handcuffs unless you were a DMC owner over the past couple years with Bush in town. Wait untill the 6th or don't grab him. I wouldn't worry too much, Foster is relatively durable back and doesn't take as much of a punishment as other backs due to good vision and a smart running style (doesn't look for contact like AP, DMC).
