Mathews targets Week 1 return Written by Michael Gehlken 7:42 p.m., Aug. 12, 2012
One of Ryan Mathews' goals this season is to play every game. Despite a broken clavicle, that hasn't changed.
The Chargers running back spoke publicly Sunday evening for the first time since his injury, offering an optimistic outlook about his recovery from last week's shoulder injury, on which he underwent surgery Friday.
He wore no sling. He raised his injured right arm to show its mobility.
If not for the bandage that stuck from his Navy blue T-shirt's collar, covering the surgical incision, he looked no worse for the wear.
The team has issued a recovery timetable of four-to-six weeks. He said he thinks he'll be on the field in four weeks for the Chargers' Sept. 10 season opener in Oakland.
Timing is everything... I was able to land him as my #3 RB!! MU AH AH AH ... He almost went in the first round of our live draft over the weekend. Somebody almost took him and then somebody else said, "you know he broke his shulder right?".... He then slid all the way to the end of the 3rd round of our 3 man keeper league. I was praying he made it back to me and he did.
We can start 3 rbs and as of right now I have ADP / SJAX / Matthews with Hillis, Royster and Blount on my bench. STEAL!

Third round is a steal.
Question for you: it sounds like you took Jackson in the 2nd round. I'm high on Jackson, but I am not sure I'd take him in the 2nd round, depending on who else was there. I'd love to hear who you left on the table in order to take him in round 2 (and how many teams are in the league). Thanks.
Brees / A. Smith SJAX / ADP / Matthews / Hillis / Royster / Blount A. Johnson / Fitz / B. Lloyd / Titus Young / Holmes / Britt / T.O Gates / Gonzo Packers
I also drafted Sproles who fell insanely late.. I then traded Sproles and Meachem for Lloyd / Royster. I figured that I had too much RB depth and wouldnt need Sproles. I wanted to upgrade my WR3 spot and did so with Lloyd. I have him as a legit top 10 WR this year... No I want to try and trade Lloyd and RB for Julio Jones. (Before he blows up)
it was recently reported that Ryan Mathews will LIKELY miss 1-2 games. Is he worth the 19th pick in the 2nd rd? He could pay HUGE dividends IF he stays healthy. Reach or steal?
12-team PPR QB: Cam Newton, Andrew Luck RB: Lesean McCoy, Darren Sproles, Marcel Reece, James Starks WR: Percy Harvin, Julio Jones, Eric Decker, Randall Cobb TE: Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Meyers D/ST: Rams (streaming) K: Matt Bryant

Steal

my big question is will he be first rd value on the games he does play?
if so, then i see no reason to not draft him in the second rd. i go into a season expecting every RB to at leats miss a couple games. so if those couple come at the beginning of the season...so be it. and if i get first rd value for the remaining weeks....i just got a steal
its similar to what i do during the season. i never look at total points, or total rank. i always look at how many points he gets in the weeks he fully plays. so the question is....do you think he will be fully playing after the first couple weeks and close to fully healthy?
