Bernard Scott - RB - Bengals
Coach Marvin Lewis revealed that Bernard Scott's hand injury required surgery earlier this month.
Although Scott claims he will be ready for the opener, Lewis suggested his fate will be tied to the removal of screws and how quickly the tailback returns to form. "My eyes show me better than I hear," Lewis said. Scott is expected to be used in a "hot-hand" approach with BenJarvus Green-Ellis once he's ready for game action.

Bernard Scott (hand) said he will not play in Monday's opener against the Ravens.Scott is still working his way back into football shape after missing virtually all of training camp. We suspect he'll be ready for Week 2. BenJarvus Green-Ellis (foot) is coming off an injury of his own, but he figures to see a heavy workload in Week 1. Just don't expect much production against the Ravens' annually rugged run defense. Brian Leonard will handle his usual third-down role. Sep 5 - 11:09 AMSource: Joe Reedy on Twitter

This guy seems to appear on lists of possible breakout players every year. Every year he seems to disapoint. At this point I don't think the bengals will ever trust him with more than a few carries per game. He reminds me of donte stallworth. He seems to have the ability to breakout but for whatever reason stays in the background.

...and his season is over:

Bengals placed RB Bernard Scott on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
It's believed Scott tore his left ACL. It's a bitter end to a season where Scott could never get healthy. Scott missed Weeks 1 and 2 with a hand issue before turning his ankle in his Week 3 debut. He finishes with just eight carries for 35 yards. We've long been a fan of Scott's athleticism, but he has only 284 career touches through four seasons to show for it. He'll be a free agent at season's end. Seemingly never able to earn the full trust of the Bengals' coaching staff, it would likely be best if he moved on. A tandem of Cedric Peerman and Brian Leonard will now back-up plodding lead-back BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Neither is worth an own in fantasy leagues. Oct 8 - 11:47 AM
