New Points-Dynasty League draft, Advice on draft strategy

Hi all you Dynasty points league experts!

Have not been in Fantasy Football for a few years and never in a Dynasty Points league.

Looking for some sage advice from veterans of the format on draft strategy, where to take guys like Cam Newton or Trent Richardson as well as the usual studs for this season and beyond ( a balanced approach).

10 team league
Standard points league
20 roster spots and will have 2 IR spots
1 weekly pickup etc..

Starting rosters:
1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 RB/WR
1 TE
1 Kicker
1 Defense/Special team

Ability to protect players 2-4 players for max 3 years. Though most 2 years as their is a cap system on total protected years per team of 8 per season.

Much appreciate any detailed analysis and specific recommendations on draft strategy, players to target when etc..

Just found out I am picking 5th (out of 10) all the way through the snake draft this year. How does that effect my strategies.
