Rashad Mendenhall Long Term Prospect (WHIR)

Postby csquared11 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 8:03 am

Thanks for your help in advance, and, as always, I promise return help to anyone who gives me some advice!

In a 12 Team League, Non-PPR, my team is currently:

QB: Eli Manning
RB: Chris Johnson
RB: Fred Jackson
WR: Victor Cruz
WR: DeSean Jackson
WR: Justin Blackmon
TE: Jimmy Graham
W/R/T: Roy Helu
K: Matt Bryant
DEF: San Fransisco 49ers

BN: Jermaine Gresham
BN: Matt Cassel
BN: Danny Amendola
BN: Michael Bush
BN: Devery Henderson
BN: Joe McKnight

Anyhow, I am working on trades to get ride of McKnight and Bush to the owners of Shonn Greene and Matt Forte, respectively. I already set up a trade to get Titus Young for McKnight, just so I can have a little proven production in my flex spot.

What I am really curious about is Mendenhall's actual value once he comes back. He was just removed from the PUP list, meaning he could start sooner than 6 weeks out. However, this type of injury is really tough to return from, and he might be limited in the number of carries he gets all season. It is worth trying to trade away Bush to get Mendenhall, who I can store on my bench and hope he returns to form in a few weeks?

Thanks for the help with mine:

I feel that Pitt. will really want Mendenhall back IF Redman/Dwyer/or the other hurt RB's don't perform. I would give it 1 or 2 weeks to see how the Steeler backfield looks before I make the decision. If the Steelers bring him back, they will make sure he is ready and use him often. If the backup RB's do well then it will be a slower process in getting Mendenhall back.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it. While Mendenhall is recuperating, Dwyer, Redman and Clainey(?) will be fighting for carries. Even if Mendenhall returns to form, a form which wasn't all that great last year to begin with, he'll still have to share carries. Add to that Pitt's subpar offensive line, and I don't think its an investment worth getting into. I'd see if I can use Bush to pull someone else or just hold onto him.

Other trade options are:

Danny Woodhead (NE)
Michael Crabtree (SF)
and, possibly,
Donald Brown (IND)

This player doesn't have much depth, so its hard to get much value for Bush outside of those players and Mendenhall.

I don't think you should give bush away. He's going to get goal line carries and mendenhall isn't going to play until after wk 5-6. i would stick with what you have. good trade for T. young tho!!!

Help me!!
