2 QB league, held hostage for backup QB-punt bye week?

Postby V » Mon Sep 03, 2012 12:04 pm

I'm in a 10 team 2 QB auction league (keeper league - this is my first year in it, as I took over a team), and backup QBs certainly seem to be at a premium (we're talking $4 for Sam Bradford, $6 for Alex Smith, Ponder, Cassel, $3 for Gabbert and Skelton). I was hoping I'd land Wilson in the blind bidding, but lost out to a $37 (!) bid (out of $100 budget).

From preliminary talks, it's obvious that the guys with 4-5 QBs are going to ask for the moon, so I'm currently planning on just punting Romo's bye week (week 5, I have Romo, my WR1 (Calvin), my WR2 (Dez), and my RB2 (Martin) all on byes, and I'm facing the unanimously held #1 team in the league, who has no byes). Before week 8, I hope someone has an injury or doesn't need a bench QB anymore, and I can make a deal.

Is this a sound strategy?

It looks like you will have to do that if all those guys are on byes for you and you would be facing the #1 team to make it even worse. The only way you would really have a chance is if you traded Martin or Calvin and tried to get some guys who dont have the same bye, and that would be very difficult. So I say just punt that week and just plan ahead for the next week.
