Start em/Sit em Dilemma

Postby icedmofo » Tue Sep 04, 2012 12:58 pm

I'm pretty torn about who to start/sit this first week, especially at my RB/WR flex position.

Right now i'm starting Peyton Manning, Ray Rice, Marshawn Lynch (with Turbin in my roster in case he's suspended), Roddy White, Reggie Wayne (over steve johnson since wayne has the far more favorable matchup), Rob Gronkowski.

The dilemma has arisen because i chose to bench stevie johnson since he's playing the jets and will thus be on revis island. Since i benched him, i started Reggie Wayne, who normally would be my flex position starter.

That being said, if i keep stevie johnson on the bench, these are my options for my flex position week 1:

Michael Bush (vs. Colts)
Kendall Wright (vs. Pats)
Titus Young (vs. Rams)

So far my instinct is to start Bush, since he has the most experience and a decent matchup, even if he isn't going to get the bulk of the touches because of Matt Forte.

I want to play Kendall Wright because i know that New England's secondary is leaky, but i also don't trust a rookie being thrown to by Jake Locker without at least seeing some time played during the season. I'm also unfamiliar with just how well NE shored up its secondary in free agency/draft.

Titus Young seems like the WR version of Michael Bush to me. Second fiddle, but in his case, not only would he not be a primary target because of Calvin Johnson, but they're playing a team that won't be able to cover Megatron well anyway, so Stafford can bombs away all game.

Any Advice?

I should mention that this league is PPR.

I would give Titus a try here. Playing at home against a very poor STL secondary. DET will throw the ball around and since it is a PPR Titus could roll up some points for you.

Actually, if you look at last years stats, Stevie Johnson did very well against Revis both times he went against him.

I would start johnson
