I'm in a keeper league, and my WR1 and top two RBs are set. for flex, my options are Charles, D. Williams, Green-Ellis, Ridley and Aj Green
for WR 2, i'm torn between green and V Jax. based upon matchups and injury situations, I'm leaning towards Williams and Jackson, respectively this week. Am I crazy to bench my top two picks (charles and Green)?
Don't over think it, especially going into week one. We don't know who is who and what is what yet. You drafted these guys so high because they are elite talents with the ability to deliver your FF team big points on just a single play.
You paid for Green in the draft. Don't second guess starting Vincent Jackson ahead of him now. Green is an every week starter until things change.
Normally, I would say the same thing about Charles, but Williams in an interesting play. With Stewart likely out, Williams gets a huge bump in value. Both Charles and Williams have been elite in the past so starting the guy not coming back from injury and not in a week-1 timeshare wouldn't be a bad move.
Like everyone has said, don't try and get cute with matchups, noone really knows how any defense will play this year. Green is a stud, even if hey goes against a tough matchup I think you have to start him unless you have a great WR with an equally great matchup. Everyone says Charles is looking like he did 2 years ago so I dont think you can bench him either. Williams, however, is an interesting option. If Stewart sits, I think I might go with Williams, Tampa didnt have a great run D last year and in the last game he played against Tampa, Williams only carried the ball 7 times but had 2 scores and somethin like 70 yards IIRC.
Yeah, AJ is a stud, but its not like he out produced VJAX last year. I know Freeman's no Rivers, but I think carolina will put up points, and the bucs will have to throw to keep up. and I know Baltimore won't be quite as good on d, but they'll still be solid. Given that, I think It's pretty close call. Actually, most projections I've seen have V Jax outscoring Green this week.
