Brandon Weeden

There were a lot of terrible performances by QB's in week 1 and Weeden's was one of the worst:

Browns coach Pat Shurmur gave rookie QB Brandon Weeden a vote of confidence at Monday's press conference.
"Brandon Weeden is our starter and he's going to get better," Shurmur said. Weeden had an almost inconceivably bad debut, with his 5.1 QB rating being 10 times worse than Michael Vick's 51.0 mark even though Vick (also) threw four interceptions. Neither Jimmy Clausen nor Blaine Gabbert ever approached a rating so awful during their calamitous rookie campaigns. Weeden's 5.1 QB rating was 7.2 points worse than Robert Griffin III's yards per attempt. Weeden wasn't going to lose his job after one bad start, but the pressure is certainly on.

It didn't help he had to deal with a harsh Eagles pass rush and a solid Eagles secondary. Regardless, he looked AWFUL out there.

I sat through this game. It was sloppy, and mostly boring. Weeden did look terrible, from start to finish. Heck, he even looked terrible from before the game when he got stuck under the flag during the pre-game. With Weeden's 4 INTs, 2 fumbles (both recovered), Vick's 4 INTs, and a fumble...both guys will have to improve. I was already skeptical about Weeden, and this game didn't help ease those feelings. Now he gets a crack at the Bengals DEF. Put in those waiver wire moves for Cincy DEF...

Could Weeden's play have been affected by a flare up of arthritis?

Weeden is Chris Weinke-esque. 28-29 year old rookie set to retire next year. Produced the same stat line as Weinke use to put up. Poor guy had a tough defense to play against to start his career.
