Ryan for P. Manning & Nicks - WHIR

Postby rasmusDoh » Tue Sep 11, 2012 4:43 pm

8-man PPR league
My team (not the one from my signature) is:

QB: Ryan, E. Manning
RB: McCoy, Murray, SJAX, R. Bush, D. Brown
WR: J. Nelson, Welker, Bryant, S. Johnson, Bowe
TE: Graham
K: Prater
DEF: Ravens

A guy proposed me the trade of my Ryan for his P. Manning & Nicks.

I dunno if the Chief's secondary is really bad, or Ryan just stepped up to elite - but he was the highest scoring player in the league.

So this leaves me thinking that P. Manning and my current back up Eli would be significant downgrades. Nicks could be anywhere from my best WR to 4th after Bryant.

Anyway, i'm actually pretty confused here. Seems like a descent trade proposal, so would really like some feedback from you guys :)

I would want to be on the Peyton Manning and Hakeem Nicks side of the deal, and for me it's not close.

Here's why: Matt Ryan was certainly great this weekend. He put up a line of 299/3 against the Chiefs, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had more games like that in the future. That total is good for about 24 points in .04/yard and 4/TD leagues. Like I said earlier, Ryan certainly will score 20+ points with his arm again at points this year. But judging by the Sunday Night Football game, so can Peyton Manning who had 20 in week 1. Looking at your roster, Eli Manning probably can too despite a weak start. As we know, Matt Ryan scored a lot more than 24 points this weekend. The stats that I'm leaving out are his rushing numbers (3 rushes/25 yds/1 TD) which accounted for an additional 8 points making him a great week 1 play. I wouldn't expect Matt Ryan's rushing numbers to carry over on a game to game basis, so I perceive the gap between the Manning brothers and Ryan to be a lot closer than Week 1 numbers suggest.

Hakeem Nicks is a freak talent with a solid QB. I believe he becomes the WR1 on your roster right away. A small downgrade at QB and a major upgrade at WR make this a no brainer.

Thanks man! Great points, which lead me to accept it right away!

I also think that Ryan and the Manning brothers' numbers should narrow the coming weeks.

So i guess this is a nice example of selling high (even though i wasn't the one who proposed the trade) :)
