I like dynasty leagues because they are the closest thing to reality, esp if you have salary caps, player contracts etc...
It also allows for the league to go on year round.....whether it be the rookie draft, offseason trading etc. plus it puts a greater demand on research and keeping owners on their toes.
We are "firing" two owners from our league due to lack of team maintenance after the playoffs, and getting more competitive owners.
I love my league its pretty much the closest thing you can come to the NFL outside of dynasty mode on Madden lol
Was talking to Canadian Seahawk about this very thing earlier today.
Can someone explain this to me?
The point of a keeper league w/o (1) an auction draft, (2) player salaries and (3) a salary cap???
This keeper format first showed up, in my experience, in rotisserie baseball. The whole point was to "take a chance" on some unknown, get him a salary of, say, ten cents, get to keep him for 3 or 4 years at more-or-less that salary, and have him turn out to be Albert Pujols.
For the life of me, I just don't understand playing in a keeper league without the player salaries and the auction.
For me - the fun is each year being a fresh start.
An even playing field.
No WAY am I going to fork over a 100 bucks in a 14-roster-player keeper league.
It would take 5 years and $500 before you even had a shot at winning anything (and it would probably be less than the $500!).
It would only take 5 yrs if you were a squealin wheez.
Your going down next week, wheez.
I agree with you about the keeper leagues. Without a cap, salaries, and contracts, keeper leagues can get a bit lopsided. They can still be a ton of fun, but they do lack that aspect of true value drafting and management.
I took over a dynasty team this season that needed revamping. I found it was the most fun of my various leagues even though it's the only one I didn't make the playoffs in...yet. I've been having a good time working on it.

Ohhh. UhHuh. OK.
Took 14 weeks, an off-topic thread, the play-offs, and a sausage icon, but the Racing Sausage FFL smack down trash talk has finally begun! Cornbread fires first!
Gotta say though ... I LIKE it! As a true, original believer in the Double Dog ("Jim, he hasn't missed a field goal all season, this is automatic") HooDoo, I say ... fire away!
At least we agree on the keeper league stuff.
And that's "Wease" to you, Mr. Cornbread.
Not (*cough*) "Wheez".
Though ... I have had a touch of the croup lately.
And my arthritis is acting up.
