Coin Flip Alternative: The 50yd Line Race

What if instead of just arbitrarily flipping a coin before the game starts, there was an athletic event instead where each team picked their fastest runner to start at opposite ends of the field and race towards the 50yd line. First one to cross the line wins.

I think this would add an extra element of excitement and competition to the start of the game and would provide fantasy football with another fun way to score points.

Perhaps...but the NFL would never go for that...

I like that idea for OT situations. Would save a lot of wear and tear on both teams and negate possible major injuries that happen in that time frame.
