- TO is gone (even though that sucks).
- If we can't afford TO, we can't get Holt!
- Fitzgerald will be too high in the draft to get.
- Roy Williams is a TO clone from UT and he stayed in Austin for his senior year (will be better prepared for NFL).
- Garcia will cost against the cap if he's cut, he will be shopped for trade though. Maybe for a TOP kicker and a draft jump to get Williams.
- Rattay's ready to start, still good backup in Dorsey.
- Hearst will have to restructure to stay, be used as third-down back and backup to full time Barlow.
- Streets will be signed, as well as Peterson & Plummer.
- Rice will return to SF for one year before retirement to play and mentor.

Why do u all base it on stastics?
Because this is fantasy football, not plain football chat. Fantasy football is ALL about the stats. How many yards, touchdowns, catches a WR makes, not how strong or talented he is

Deft's right. In a fantasy football, stats are the only evidence you need on who's a better player most of the time.

This is pretty close, Bay City.... the only thing I MIGHT disagree about is not being able to get Fitzgerald in the first round. That will depend on their last three games. Right now, a lot of the teams ahead of them need RB or QB help. However, I still think the 9ers need another dominating LB to complement Peterson. Maybe in round 2......
I really don't think Fitz will be an option, he'll go pretty high as probably the best talent in the draft. Receiver is the easiest transition to the pros, so ANY team ahead of the Niners in the draft without a specific need will grab him. Plus, although the Niners will probably miss the playoffs, they will finish strong enough to be nowhere near the top of the draft. They can trade up, but not high enough. A player like Roy Williams will be within reach, and probably the better option because along with BIG talent he has senior experience and a team mentality (no crying here).
I'm very happy with their linebackers, remember Winborn is on IR right now. He has the talent and will to dominate next to Peterson. Smith & Ulbrich are tackling speed-machines as well. Solid linebacking core. Our line is getting thin though, need depth.

I'm not ready to speculate as to where he might go yet, so back to 9er's point: Has this Sporting News hack in any way substantiated this view by naming even one source or quoting anyone directly? No. So it could be his personal opinion, or mere speculation. He's certainly not alone in figuring that T.O. may no longer be wanted in S.F., considering the money he'll command and the handful he is in the locker room (and on the sideline too, as it were). But is this guy saying anything new or offering any evidence to support a not-so-original opinion?
I sincerely hope the Jets pass on T.O. if they get the chance to make an offer. However much any team pays for his services, it's too much.
TO isnt going to be resigned by the Niners, and it has nothing to do with his play this year, or his attitude.... its only because John York is too cheap to pay his star players. Streets will gone too.
Peterson is going to be their priority during the offseason and then Plummer. They know the offense is a wreck, and they'd rather rebuild it from the ground up and keep the core of their young, agressive defense together.

What's Garcia's contract status? Will he be the starting QB for the foreseeable future?
He's still under contract and its a big one.. 7-9 million for next year I think? They want to cut him loose but it will be too big of a cap hit. may end up happening anyway though.

They wouldn't cut him, but it is in the cards that he might get packaged in a deal to free up some cap room. After the way Rattay played in Garcia's down time (well, his first game anyway) I think the niners would feel comfortable focusing on him in the offseason and him being ready to go in 04. Plus, Dorsey is a great backup behind him, and this preseason, they had 4 quality QB and there was speculation that they wouldn't cut any of them.
