Unfortunately for the Colts, injuries added to the insult of a 22-17 home loss to Jacksonville. Wide receiver Austin Collie caught his first pass of the season early in the third quarter for a 6-yard gain.
Then he stayed down. Again.
He spat out his mouthpiece and grabbed his right knee. He didn't put any weight on the right leg as he was lifted by trainers to the bench. Colts coach Chuck Pagano said he didn't know the severity of the injury, but it appeared serious.
"That's just a terrible, terrible thing," Pagano said.
Collie, who will undergo a magnetic imaging resonance exam on the knee, was coming back from his third concussion as well as another concussion-like symptom head trauma in about 22 months.
"It is tough, man, whenever you see one of your brothers go down with any kind of injury, no matter if it's one or numerous," Wayne said. "You hate to see that happen."
This is very serious and his career is now in Jeopardy. The guy has heart so maybe he can come back but these are tougher to come back from than ACL injuries.
Bummer for Collie

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie out for season 7:15 PM, Sep 24, 2012 Written by Phil Richards
Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano provided the expected confirmation at a Monday afternoon news conference. Wide receiver Austin Collie's season is no longer in doubt. His future with the Colts might be.
The hard-luck four-year veteran suffered a ruptured patella tendon Sunday during the Colts' 22-17 loss to Jacksonville. Collie will undergo surgery and be placed on injured reserve.
"Like I said last night, we feel awful about the loss but in the big picture you feel awful for a guy like Austin who has battled through so many things in his career and then to go out and have this thing happen," Pagano said. "You hate to see anybody get injured on the football field but I feel really bad about Austin."
Collie has suffered three concussions, the second of which put him on injured reserve in 2010. He will earn $1.038 million in this, the final year of his contract, and his future is uncertain.
Donnie Avery has established himself as the Colts' clear No. 2 receiver behind Reggie Wayne. Rookie T.Y. Hilton is a big talent who would appear to be capable of entrenching himself at No. 3.
Behind Hilton are rookies LaVon Brazill, Kris Adams and Nathan Palmer, whom the Colts signed to the active roster Monday off the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad. Palmer wasn't drafted but the Colts had serious interest in him during pre-draft evaluations. con't...
