Malcom Floyd has been catching passes from quarterback Philip Rivers since they were rookies in 2004.
That arrangement is set to continue.
The Chargers wide receiver signed a three-year contract extension Wednesday, putting him under team control through 2015. His original two-year contract was set to expire after the season.
Floyd first joined the Chargers as an undrafted rookie from Wyoming.
"We're very excited to have Malcom signed to a multi-year deal," said A.J. Smith, Chargers general manager. "He has been an integral part of the Chargers for many years. He is everything we look for in a Chargers player — both on and off the field. He's well-respected by his teammates and is a very popular player throughout the entire organization."
Floyd could not be reached for comment, and the financial terms of his contract were not immediately disclosed.
