Trade Veto'ed by commish. Am I wrong in being pissed?

Postby GoBucks0711 » Thu Oct 18, 2012 1:47 am

16 Team PPR League (H2H). 2 matches per week

My Team (3-9):
QB: J. Cutler, S. Bradford
RB: MJD, S. Greene, V. Ballard, B. Powell, S. Vereen
WR: J.Nelson, D. Moore, D. Bess, B. Gibson, D. Hixon, G. Tate
TE: B. Myers
K: T. Lawerence
DST: Rams

Other Team (4-8):

QB: T. Brady, R. Wilson
RB: L. Blount, A. Brown , M. Tolbert, M. Turner, E. Royster
WR: J. Gordon, S. Moss, N. Burleson, K. Olgetree, B. Tate
TE: J. Witten, J. Dreeson
K: D. Bailey
DST: Bengals

I know, Boths teams are pretty sorry

I offered Shonn Greene and B. Powell for M. Turner and Royter. He accepted but commissioner vetoed, saying this was lopsided in my favor. He said S. Greene has only had one good game, and M. Turner is a stud who is guaranteed to put up 15 points per week. In my League S. Greene has an average of 10.5 pts/week...M. Turner avg is 13.5/week.

M. Turner is on a bye week, so I figured offering him a starting Running Back in Shonn Greene would help him out this week. I have Ballard and MJD I can start this week and he has L. Blount and Royster as his two best backs. Obviously M. Turner is the better back, but he has a huge need for a solid starting running back.

I did notice the commish is actually up against the guy I am trading with, but I don't want to make any assumptions. As far as the league, its was not free, and first place is very nice. I barley know a handful of the people in it (including the commish). My roommate is the one that talked me into this. This is my first year ever doing Fantasy football.

Being new, I drafted a sub par team, but have spent a considerable amount of time studying the waiver wire, and players trying to improve team each week. Until last week I was 1-9. Having this trade veto'ed by the commish has really pissed me off and left a bad taste in my mouth. Sure...I know I am getting the better deal here, but the other guy agreed to it. Am I wrong in being upset? I know I can't do anything about it, but some reassurance that I am not over reacting would be nice.

What you can do about it is play in a different league next year. All the points you make are true but they're also mostly irrelevant. All that matters is that you're both trying to improve your teams. In the absence of collusion or a situation where an owner is just quitting on his team, trades shouldn't be vetoed - you'll see that sentiment stated time and time again on these and all fantasy football discussion boards.

Make sure the commish knows what you think and then hope that Greene is awesome from here on out and that you make the playoffs, which will stick it in his face a couple different ways. Chalk the experience up as something you've learned in your first season, and then consider your options for next year. If you think the league has potential to be a good one, you might initiate a league discussion in the off-season to resolve this and any other rules and policies disputes to try to improve the overall experience for everyone. If the other guys aren't too into the league or you don't have faith that the commish can run it well, look for a new group of guys next year.

Either way, I hope you won't give up on the game. It sounds like you mostly like playing and you'll enjoy it even more when you're in a league that does things right.

100% should not be veto'd. Any commish that does that is not living up to his duties and should be ashamed. As the guy said above, the only reasons to veto a trade is collusion or where one team is just giving up on the season. Look for a real league next year. I would be pissed too.

Tell your commissioner the following:

You don't veto unless it's a blatant attempt to defraud/cheat the league. It's not your job to "protect" a grown man who unfortunately rode the short bus to the trade negotiations.

So back off, Kim Jong-il. No one wants to see your freakishly massive forehead and Harry Carey glasses 'round these parts anymore.

haha...I think I will send that to him.

Thanks for the responses. I did shoot him a txt, with my complaints and a few stats...He said he would approve it..

But now the guy doesn't want to trade anymore :(...Oh well Maybe Green will go off again (haha not likely).
