I'm 6-0 and going against a good team (on paper). This is by far my worst bye week with LeSean McCoy, Julio Jones, Eric Decker, and Brian Hartline on a break. I also had Rivers but dropped the bum.
My opponent this week is starting Stevie Johnson and Scott Chandler
I was thinking about picking up and starting Ryan Fitzpatrick to offset the possibility of Stevie and Chandler having a good game. After all, the matchhtup is pretty juicy. I know the general rule is to start your best player but the matchup is right. If the matchup wasn't good, I wouldn't consider starting a QB just to offset my opponent. My other option would be to plug n play Josh Freeman but they are on the same level IMO so why not start the guy throwing to my opponents pass catcher.
I just acquired Cam Newton via trade (should process this afternoon). I know you are saying, "How can you bench Cam Newton for Fitzpatrick?" Cam has a tough matchup against DAL top-ranked pass D and Cam is no great passer. Do you think the bye helped at all because his last game vs. STL was atrocious. At this point he may be a matchup play. What should I do?

12-team PPR QB: Cam Newton, Andrew Luck RB: Lesean McCoy, Darren Sproles, Marcel Reece, James Starks WR: Percy Harvin, Julio Jones, Eric Decker, Randall Cobb TE: Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Meyers D/ST: Rams (streaming) K: Matt Bryant
Your 6-0, I would hate to send you in the wrong direction because clearly your making the right decisions.
I sense there may be some disagreement but I do like Fitzpatrick's matchup a lot and offsetting your opponents points is a solid strategy when your handicapped by byes.
It is hard not to start someone like Newton because of his upside but the Dallas D has looked good both against the run and the pass and clearly Carolina can't get anything going.
