I have Arian Foster, so I'm looking to get Ben Tate on my team as a handcuff. My challenge is that I have absolutely no depth at all, so not much I can give up. I just picked up Rashad Jennings this week, which is one of my only servicable bench players. Giving him up would give me no cushion for an injury. This is a 10-team H2H league with 6 pts for all TDs and standard scoring otherwise (1pt per 10 yds rushing/receiving, 1 pt per 25 yds passing). We have 4 defensive players and tackels predominantly drive the scoring. I'm currently in first place. Would you give up Jennings to get Tate in my situation? I'd love to upgrade my defense and get Laurinatis or Mayo as well, but would probably have to throw something else in. Thoughts?
My team: QB: Matt Ryan RB: A. Foster RB: D. Sproles WR: Antonio Brown WR: Jordy Nelson WR/RB: Stevan Ridley TE: Jimmy Graham LB: Derrick Johnson LB: Darryl Washington DB: Antoine Winfield D: Akeem Ayers BE: Rashad Jennings BE: Michael Crabtree BE: Ronnie Hillman BE: Matt Schaub BE: Vick Ballard BE: Heath Miller
His team QB: Brees RB: Trent Richardson RB: Fred Jackson WR: STeve Smith WR: Julio Jones RB/RB: Dez Bryant TE: Witten LB: James Laurinatis LB: Mason Foster DB: Deangelo Hall D: Jared Mayo BE: Ben Tate BE: Alex Green BE: Domenik Hixon BE: Andrew Luck BE: Pierre Garcon BE: Joique Bell
So, the way I see it, the question is whether or not your willing to gamble on the loss of Foster. If Foster goes down, Tate becomes a RB1, no doubt. Rashad Jennings, is a high end RB2, from what I've seen of his play, and you know the Jags are going to run a ton. That said, MJD will likely be back in 3-4 weeks... If your desperate for points now you stick with Jennings.
But honestly, given how well houston has been playing, I would not be surprised if Tate becomes a precious fantasy playoff asset.
This is a really tough situation to be in, but if I were to go with something, I would want to secure my biggest asset, which is Foster. Tate has future upside as well, whereas Jenning's future is much more cloudy. I'd try to do this trade if possible.
Tate has not been the same guy he was last year. Jennings should give you at least a few weeks of solid production. If you are going to trade him, you should at least try to pick up another starting running back. Even if foster goes down I don't see Tate picking up as much slack as he did last year. Hold onto Jennings IMO.
I would do that deal. You could also do Jennings, Jordy and Vick Ballard for Tate, Julio and a defensive player. I like Julio more than Jordy and you would be buying low on Julio & Selling high on Jennings and Jordy. I don't think that Jennings value will be any higher than it is right now. I don't think he is that great and MJD could be back quicker than people think.
id probably keep jennings...i dont know MJD will get back and i think he can help through your bye weeks unless youre done. If so, i still think he is a better start than ridley...Ben Tate is only worth anything if Foster goes down and that doesnt happen often. Id stay put...
10 Teams PPR League QB - M. Ryan/ T. Romo RB - D. McFadden/ M. Forte/ B. Brown/ K Moreno/ W. McGahee (Gone)/ C. Benson (Gone) WR - V. Cruz/ P. Harvin/ / G. Jennings/ D. Alexander/ C. Givens TE - A. Gates/ H. Miller/ J. Tamme
I would also keep Jennings. He will produce while MJD is out and Foster is a Beast. Tate is almost not worth owning because of fosters prowess at RB. Don't plan for what might happen-roll wih what is happening
