If a guy has Ridley, Doug Martin, Jamaal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Matt Forte and Kevin Smith but is sporting the Lions DEF is it insulting to propose a trade of Houstons DEF for McCoy?

thats why its a hypothical.
Hypothetically hes tried to get rid of McCoy a few times already and he avoids starting McCoy as well. This weeks hes starting Ridley and Martin.

Yep. A Defense for a premier player is always insulting.
You MIGHT be able to get Ridley for the Defense... but that helps him get a lot better and you would only get marginally better.

its not the team in my sig. different league. One I'm in with my brother, its tough navigating trades when two people have to agree on one side lol.

what if his TE situation is equally as dismal, is Houston Def and say one of Heath Miller, Aaron Hernandez, Vernon Davis insulting?

That's getting a little better. If he is really fed up with McCoy, I think a TE that has performed well and an elite D is a reasonable enough offer. I would definitely shroud your offer in a "I see you've been shopping McCoy and you generally have him on the bench. I also see you need a TE and a Defense pretty badly. I could use the RB help." kind of statement.

I've basically sent him an email saying "Hey look I still think we're a good match for a trade, here's what i see happening what's your take on it.?"
My problem is Bradshaw getting tagged with the DNP every week. He's expressed interest in Bradshaw but gets scared away every week because of the foot issue. Otherwise id have worked out a trade for McCoy a few weeks ago. I just think having houstons def and 3 higher end TEs sitting there each week.
