man i typed out a long/ish thoughtful response to this and a stupid twitchy keystroke made my browser jump back and i lost it.... this is prolly to your benefit cuz most people dont like my style where i explain things backed up by reasoning and statistics.
LONG STORY SHORT >>>> the niners offense isn't that dynamic, and clearly after a nice start to the season opponents gameplanned against vernon davis, trying to take him away from alex smith and force him to go to his mediocre/ish wideouts and the running game thinking "ok, we're taking away your seam route superstar.... good luck beating us!" -- and clearly this strategy has worked, at least in terms of shutting down vernon davis, as the niners are still 6-2....
in a 0.5ppr format, you see that myers had one ~14pt week early on, then he's 6-8pts per week like clockwork, with a proper 21.90pts outburst last week in that vaunted SUPER BOWL REMATCH vs the bucs..... so with that said, i'd look at it this way >>> if you're in a tight matchup where you need a more FOR-SURE ~6 pts, then go with myers. clearly he's going to be a bit more gameplanned-against this week, so i figure he's right in line for another ~6-8pt week.
if you're in a tough matchup where you need to roll the dice and try to get a ~15-20/+ point homerun from your TE, go with vernon davis. despite his lack of production lately, he's still essentially the #1 wideout on the niners.... so if they're able to adapt to vernon being gameplanned against, he's far more likely to bust out for ~15/+ points... however you again run the risk of him getting 0-4pts.
so knowing that, if you're gunning for ~7pts then go with myers. if you're gunning for 15+ and willing to wager a few points to do that, then go vernon davis. i know thats not a concrete YES/NO answer, however, its the truthful one. thats how i see it.
take a look @ my dilemma plz!?!
