I'm 7-3 in a 14-team league with two 7-team divisions where each division winner gets a Wk.14 bye as 4 other wild cards (6 playoff teams total) play to reach the Wk. 15 semis. My division has one other 7-3 team that has the head-to-head tiebreaker over me, but has a tougher remaining schedule, and the next best team in our division is 5-5.
In short, I feel like my chances of going 3-0 and ending up with a Wk. 14 bye are good, and even if I did fail to take my division, with a good record I'd still end up in a Wk. 14 playoff game against a (relatively) weaker opponent that I'd feel confident winning.
So, I have two questions...
1. Is it too soon to be looking at setting up Wk. 15 as well as possible? (I'm assuming that if I get to that week as expected, it'll be against tougher competition: either the other 7-3 team from my division or one of the top two teams from the other division, who are 8-2 and 7-3.)
2. If so, would you use a waiver claim on anyone based on their Wk. 15 matchup, or is it sufficient to just pick from the group below once they become free agents again on Wednesday?
