Nobody will read this, but it's nice to vent either way.
I should have seen it coming: 5-week win streak, first in the league, and projected to get 132 points as compared with my opponent's projected 73. Then Sunday came. In a last-second move (we're talking 12:58pm!), I swapped out J Charles for Pierre Thomas. Oh boy, what a move. I played it cute, figuring either way I'd win the week. Should have known I'd lose the week Rodgers had a bye. Here were the lineups:
Me - Him
J Freeman - J Flacco
D Martin - A Foster
P Thomas - J Bell
AJ Green - T Young
V Davis - O Daniels
E Decker - Shonn Greene
Gostkowski - Tucker
BEARS - FALCONS
So, the guy started Flacco who he's had as a backup all year. Vick was his starter EVERY week until this week. What does Flacco do? He goes off for 30 points. Meanshile Vick gets knocked out of the game after 7.5 points. Freeman scored 17, which is right about what I needed.
Peyton Manning throws TD's to Stokely. Really? Decker gets 15 receiving yards for a whopping 1.5 points? Thomas doesn't get in the end-zone? Is this a joke? But Titus Young ("Sr") got in the end-zone!
Twice - TWICE AJ Green missed a TD by a half an inch or so. Joquie Bell was projected to get zero points - ZERO - behind a red-hot Mikel. So, it makes sense that he scored 5 points. I'm lucky he didn't syphon a score or two!
The Bears D gets its first single-digit fantasy game in about, what, all season? Vernon Davis apparently doesn't play for the 'Niners anymore. And D Martin takes a fantasy breather this week with under 11 points. Meanwhile, the HOU Texans showed their "In case it rains" strategy by giving A Foster the ball... EVERY FREAKING PLAY! "Do they even HAVE another guy on their offense?" is what I was thinking all night last night. Owen Daniels was ruled out just in time for my opponent to put Graham in to start. Just another 1.5 points in the wound. I ended up losing by exactly 6.14 points... which makes me shudder at the idea that J Charles COULD score a maximum of 7.63 points tonight without my last-minute decision to bench him being the straw that broke my team's back this week. Watch this be the week Romeo wakes up like, "Hey, did anybody else notice this Jamaal guy is ten times better than Draughn and Hillis combined? Let's give him the ball 23 times!" Just watch.
My 132 projected points melted to 84.80, while his 73 projected grew into 90.94. Ugh...
