Drop Stewart for Hillman?

Postby guyincognito » Tue Nov 20, 2012 10:53 pm

I have the #1 waiver priority and am thinking of picking up Hillman, but I'm currently 9-2 in first place, clinched the division and earned the first round bye, so I'm struggling with the decision of whether or not I should burn the #1 waiver priority now or hold off so that I have it as insurance during the playoffs. The thing is, I have some pretty solid depth, so not sure that I need to hold off as it doesn't appear that there are going to be that many more top FA options that could surface due to injury in the coming weeks. Is Hillman worth the stash, or should I hold off? What would you do? Also, looking at my roster, the only option I could see dropping would be Stewart, so would you rather have Stewart or Hillman?

12 team, ESPN, H2H, non-PPR, non-keeper
Roster:
QB - M.Ryan
RB - D.Martin
RB - R.Mathews
WR - R.Wayne
WR - Ju.Jones
Flex - W.Welker
TE - O.Daniels
D/ST - Chicago
K - G.Hartley
Bench - D.Murray, F.Jackson, J.Stewart, S.Smith (Car), D.Amendola

You could do this, but A) I don't think Hillman will wind better than Stewart, and B) this is a pointless burn of your waver priority UNLESS the sole purpose is to keep Hillman from some other owner you feel might need him. Hillman's averaging 3.4 YPC, and there's talk of rotating Ball in there as well. I wouldn't do this, especially with Stewart's stock on the (slight) rise, and without knowing what kind of starter Hillman will be. Again, UNLESS this is a more clever move as earlier stated.
