ESPN's Rob Parker calls RGIII a Cornball Brother

Postby joejlitz » Thu Dec 20, 2012 11:41 am

RGIII doesn't want to be defined by his ethnicity.

Listen to this fool comment on that and then hear Stephen A. being the voice of reason.

Shocked there wasn't a thread on this earlier. His comments were absurd and I am happy that ESPN suspended him. I absolutely hate Rob Parker. To be honest, whenever I hear him on the radio or TV I have to mute it or switch the station.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

You know you dun messed up when Stephen A. is the voice of reason in the room. In a room with Smith and Bayless, you shouldn't be the one saying the stupidest stuff...

Not sure espn has a leg to stand on were they to fire Rob Parker. They hired him for his ability to say outlandish things and speaking his mind without focusing his thoughts. They got just what they paid for. publicity.
I think where Parker really missed the point on is not the the person RGIII isn't advancing any social policy, but that we no longer have individuals. Our high profile athletes are now not black or white, latino or asian. They are corporations and as such incapable of making any stand the could threaten their marketability with their most prized demographics.
It frustrates me too. I would rather our athletes' honest opinions even if I don't share them, than listen to the corporation approved rhetoric.
