The blind bid leagues I've played in are worse for parity, though. It's the same thing but with a budget. The good teams sit on their funds until there is a high quality free agent to bid on, while the bad teams use up their budgets on marginal players every week.

This has not been my experience - if you're grabbing marginal players, not much chance the top teams are gonna be interested in them - often you can get them $0, or a buck or two at worst.

Exactly, you can bid $0 or you can grab a filler on the open wire once the bids have been processed. There is no need to bid $5 on a kicker or a backup DB in case your guy doesn't play.
