Packers release Charles Woodson after seven seasons

The Green Bay Packers released defensive back Charles Woodson on Friday afternoon, ending the three-time all pro's seven-year tenure with the team. "He still has the bug (to play) and wants to win another Super Bowl before he calls it quits," Woodson's agent, Carl Poston, told USA TODAY Sports in a voice message. "Obviously, we're going to be looking at some contenders with that in mind."

GM Ted Thompson signed Woodson as a free agent in 2006."We are grateful for all that Charles has given to the Green Bay Packers over the past seven years," Thompson said in a statement.
