DB's wanted - apply within

Definitely an area they need help - a couple names being bandied about:

Free agent S Glover Quin will visit the Lions.
Detroit is reportedly "very" interested in the versatile Quin, who can play both corner and safety. They're also going to host LaRon Landry on a visit as they try to infuse some talent into an annually embarrassing secondary. Mar 12 - 6:13 PM

Darrelle Revis is still available, but he's cost prohibitive for the Lions of course - looks like he'll end up with the Bucs.

Lions agreed to terms with S Glover Quin, formerly of the Texans.
Detroit continues to rake 'em in on Wednesday. Quin will replace free agent Louis Delmas in the Lions' defensive backfield, but he can also play some corner. Quin struggles in coverage a bit, but he's an above-average run defender. It's a tough loss for Houston, who wanted him back badly. Detroit has now inked Quin and cornerback Chris Houston to help shore up the back end.

Lions agreed to terms on a five-year, $25 million deal with CB Chris Houston.
The first cornerback domino finally falls. Houston was clearly the Lions' top cover man last season, often used to shadow opposing No. 1 receivers. He's miscast in that role, but would be an excellent No. 2 corner if the Lions choose to add a legit shutdown guy via the free agency or the draft. Now that Houston has signed, the markets for Aqib Talib, Sean Smith, Brent Grimes and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie could develop quickly.

And just to show that Mayhew never met an injury he didn't like, Lions resigned Delmas for two years. At least it is structured so as to cost less should Louie do what Louie does - miss games. Details from MLive.com:
http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/20 ... l_ris.html

2013, Delmas will have a base salary of $715,000, the veteran's minimum for a player with 4-6 accrued seasons. He has the ability to earn up to $1.75 million more based on playing time.
If Delmas plays 42 percent of the team's defensive snaps next season (approximately seven games), he will earn $109,375 for each game he was active. For example, if Delmas misses four games due to injury, he would earn $1.31 million for the 12 weeks he played. That money would be applied to the 2014 cap.
The Lions also awarded Delmas a $1 million signing bonus. For cap purposes, this is divided evenly over the the two-year deal. That means Delmas' cap number for 2013 will be $1.215 million.
In 2014, Delmas' base salary jumps to $5.5 million, plus a $500,000 roster bonus and $500,000 prorated portion of his signing bonus. That $6.5 million will be added the playing time bonus Delmas earns in 2013, making his max cap number $8.25 million.

Problem could be the Lions are now happy with the secondary and ignore it, chosing to chase an Olinemen in the first round since and maybe taking WRs in every subsequent round. Only mildly sarcastic there. Actually I would hope they would get a stud CB before OL, but will depend on the way the draft rolls out.
