Thoughts on Le'Veon Bell?

Hearing this guy could be the bell cow in Pittsburgh.

1) Think so?

If so...

2) Top 10 RB?

I think he will be given every opportunity to be their every down back. I am not convinced he will be a back that you ever are excited about rostering. He didn't impress me in college and I don't think he has the talent to be elite. I see Shonn Greene, Beanie Wells type production. Never enough to get excited about, but good depth for your team. So no, not top 10 for me.

Pitt seems to be real high on him as a 3 down back.

Strengths
+ Tremendous balance, very strong
+ Excellent size at 6'1", 230 pounds
+ Good power, can punish defenders
+ Capable receiver with a wide catch radius

Weaknesses
- Lacks breakaway speed
- Average acceleration and burst
- Pass protection needs work
- Questionable vision, decision-making

I like the situation he is in most. He is a beast but when you lack acceleration and burst you get caught up in traffic trying to get through the oline. If you had Dwyer or Redman last year they lacked that acceleration to and they would get 3 yards a pop and rarely more. My fear is this is what happens and he ends up being just a piece of the corp instead of the Bell Cow.

The big problem is all of the top 4 backs have questions this year so he is as good as any and might be in the best situation of all of them.

Looks like he'll be given the chance to take the job and run with it, but look at what he's got around him... no more Wallace, Miller coming back from a late season blown out knee (ie the Steelers are looking a little thin at the skill positions), crappy o-line (in 2012), and the Steelers weren't exactly world beaters last season...

He's a guy I wouldn't mind have on any fantasy squad, but not a guy I'm going to actively target as I think the draft day price is going to be too high.

PIT sure seems to love him as a 3 down back.

I don't see top-10 production from him in 2013.... Or from any rookie RB, for that matter. I think his ceiling this year is maybe RB 16-18, making him a solid RB2.
