McFadden/Harvin for Spiller? (dynasty)

Postby ThePrez » Sat Jun 15, 2013 8:07 am

Got another team in my dynasty league looking to trade but not sure the offer works for me.

I inquired about Spiller and he mentioned interest in Rice, AMorris, McFadden, and Harvin.

Initial offer made... I give McFadden/Harvin for Spiller.

Start: QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, FLEX (WR/RB/TE), TE, K, DEF
Standard Yahoo scoring PLUS 0.5 PPR

Other team =
QB - Kaepernick, Romo, Gabbert
RB - Spiller, MJDrew, JStewart, MLeshoure, TJones, RTurbin
WR - MWallace, Bowe, Blackmon, DHeyward-Bey, DJones, CGivens
TE - VDavis, JCook
K - Gould
D - Seattle, Cleveland

My team =
QB - Newton, EManning, Rivers, Foles
RB - Rice, McFadden, AMorris, CIvory, BBrown, Pead
WR - AJohnson, PHarvin, GJennings, Maclin, Hartline, MWilliams (TB)
TE - JGraham, GOlsen
K - Hanson
D - New York Jets

We still have our 3 round mini draft coming up where each team drop 3 players. I have pick 3 and he has pick 6 in non-serp draft.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

Disclaimer here that I've never done a dynasty league, but treating it similar to a keeper league in that youth adds some value, what I'd say is...

I would not do Morris/Johnson for Spiller/Blackmon. Blackmon certianly has upside that is even magnified in a dynasty format compared to the aging Johnson, but the difference between him and Johnson is still much greater than the difference between Spiller and Morris.

Spiller for McFadden/Harvin is closer to a fair deal (I'd prefer the Spiller side, especially in a dynasty league given McFadden and Harvin's long-term health issues). Where you want to go with that really depends on how you see your roster needs playing out. Spiller would be the best player in the deal but you'd be losing depth. It sounds like he didn't like that deal anyhow, based on him countering with the Morris suggestion?

If he is still open to something centered around McFadden and Harvin, personally, while I think you do have the depth to withstand a 2-for-1 that upgrades your top level talent, I'd try to pull someone into that deal regardless to make it a 2-for-2. Spiller + a player you'd rank lower than either McFadden or Harvin FOR that McFadden/Harvin pairing would balance the deal out nicely. Frankly, Spiller/Blackmon for McFadden/Harvin seems like it could be about right.

My $0.02.

BOLD PICKS FOR 2013
A. Rodgers outscores D. Brees in ESPN standard scoring by 40+.
D. McFadden plays 16 games (but ineffectively for someone whose only problem we always assumed was health).
M. Lynch=not a Top 10 RB.
V. Cruz=Top 7 WR.
G. Tate=Top 36 WR.
