Ponder was hand-pick by Rick Spielman and he is willing to give Ponder the longest of leashes. Apart from injury, Ponder will be the starting QB for the Vikings this entire season. Spielman is still holding onto the hope that Ponder will be the next Eli Manning; and has said so on more than one occasion.

Christian Ponder completed 5-of-12 passes for 53 yards in Friday's preseason game.
Ponder didn't get any help from his offensive line, but showed zero pocket awareness and generally looked scared versus the rush. He continues to struggle with his accuracy, completing just 42 percent of his throws. Ponder's only success came on check-downs to TE Kyle Rudolph. He now has 14 attempts for 68 yards and an interception through two preseason games. Aug 16 - 8:19 PM

That said, I don't think Cassel is any better

:-o :-o Drafting Peterson first in my league. I wonder if his back is going to break this season? Oh boy.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

I feel Cassel had to be brought in as a motivator for Ponder, or an eventual stop-gap between Ponder and the next attempt via the draft at a franchise QB.

As for Peterson I don't think we will see him break this year, but don't be surprised if he peaked last year. Losing Harvin hurts, but Patterson and Jennings help Peterson.
