Speaking of Fines...

Call me an old school fuddy duddy, or whatever, but these celebrations (more like hijinks) are getting out of control. What happened to just spiking the ball or dancing around like an idiot?

Apparently that's just not good enough anymore. Now every idiot that gets a TD has to out perform the idiot before him. I personally don't like it at all. There's no class anymore. What happened to acting like you've been there before? One of the best was Robert Smith of the Vikes. He used to score a TD...and then do you know what he did? He'd run over to one of the refs and hand him the ball. No sharpies...cell phones...or signs. All class.

What's next? I'm predicting that somebody will score a TD...pull a gat out of there pants and start firing into the air. Sound crazy? Well it would've sounded crazy a couple years ago if somebody said that T.O. would've pulled a sharpie out of his sock, or if somebody had mentioned that Joe Horn would pull a cell phone to reach out and touch someone. IMO both were ridiculous. :-t Just my opinion.

I was at the game and didn't really know what it said until I saw it on highlights when I got home. I think it's one of the best of the year, and definitely better than the Horn cell phone incident. Of course I have a little bias on it though. I think the bottom of the sign said "merry xmas, Chad Johnson", or something along those lines.

I agree. I don't think celebrating is needed and I don't know why they do it but I don't know why they don't let them. If they want to do some stuff with cell phones sharpies and stuff like that let them. I don't even care about fines but a penalty is not needed. Don't penalize the team for something that one player did that is not a rule or anything. How is he supposed to know that he can't pull out a cell phone? There is no rule.

Robert Samith was quoted saying, "I get paid to score TDs, not dance around like a cloun in the endzone."

That is great. Real class.

I am not at all against a little spontaneous celebration, but there is nothing spontaneous about planting a cell phone in the pads or printing up a sign.

While we are at it, TJ Duckett celebrating his TD that made the score like 35-7 was ridiculous, too.

I know there was only one Walter Payton, but I loved the way he just flipped the ball to a lineman or another teammate who made a good block that allowed him to score. There is nothing cooler than giving recognition to the guys who got you there. No signs, Sharpies, cell phones (OK, there weren't any), but just pure professionalism - and no one would ever accuse Sir Walter of playing without passion or having fun.

No Fun League - get real. How can you not have fun getting paid obscene millions to play a game? If you can't - just get out.

i think a little celebration is ok you earned it but excessiveness ticks me off liek when the viking defense plays bad ALL GAME and on 3-50 they make a stop and get all happy and do these ridiculous dances ARGGGGGGG it makes me sick
