After the 4 teams were decided for the playoffs, some smartas_es thought they would be funny and release all their players. Well, it was a race for the waiver wire. Because of that, our commissioner took a poll of the 4 teams in the playoffs and we all agreed not to use any players picked up as a result of those idiots releasing their players. Well, I noticed yesterday about the end of the first quarter of the 1:00 games that the guy I was playing against had Thomas Jones playing in place of Dominick Davis (his normal #2 RB). Jones is one of those guys that we agreed not to pick up. But, the guy I played against swears he didn't know he was on the list of those guys we couldn't play. I ended up losing by one point. There was a 13 point difference between Davis and Jones. I would have won if he had started his normal RB. To add to the problem, the commissioner is my brother. So, he wants to be fair. Should he allow the commissioner to sub his RBs to the way we agreed or should his ignorance of not realizing it was one of those players be allowed? Thanks for your help.
If you agreed before the game that you wouldnt pick up any of the players then you have to let the commish change his roster. Even if he made an honest mistake and didnt know he was one of the players you werent allowed to pick up, no one else picked up players so he shouldnt be allowed to either
The manager in question is one of the teams in the playoffs. Thats the whole problem. If he didn't make the playoffs and was just in the consolation bracket, it would be no big deal. The commish let us know by a post in the league forum along with a personal email in which the 4 teams agreed. Thanks for all your input. Keep the votes coming!!
Devil's Advocate..... Did the commish send a list of all the players that were not to be picked up?
If he didn't then there is a possibility that this coach didn't know that Jones was off limits.
Just something to think about.
bottom line is this..
If TJ was on a roster of one of the loser teams that the coaches released all their players, then TJ is off-limits and DD should be subed in his place.
Next thing is to find the punk-a** guys who released their players and drag them down the street.

In light of these details, it's no question. The D. Davis/T. Jones substitution should be deemed illegal and corrected. Tough spot for your brother as now he has to perform an action that is sure to greatly upset one of his managers. Though if you had a bunch of pussy-*ss quitters who tried to screw the league in your group, your brother is probably used to headaches by this point.
ignorance is not an excuse for breaking the law, just ask your local PD. if there was an agreement beforehand that all the dropped players were taboo, then they are taboo, no ifs, ands or buts.
if this isn't a money league though, you might want to judge the situation in terms of not alienating a friend...live with a moral victory instead for the sake of harmony

This is about a money league and the coach in question is just a friend of a friend of a friend if you know what I mean. So, not worried about hurting anyones feelings. We all just want to do the right thing although this could have all been avoided if the players were never dropped to begin with.
To answer the question above about if the coaches were given a list: No but it was pointed out that no players are to be used that were dropped by the losers. It was agreed on too.
