Trying to trade for Kaepernick. WHIR!

Postby joegoody41 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 10:19 am

No PPR, standard scoring except that passing TDs are worth 6 pts. As a result, a strong QB is usually necessary in this league. I've got Wilson for now, but looking to upgrade and there's an owner who has both Rodgers and Kaepernick.

The league starts 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 WR/TE flex, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K

My team:
QB: Wilson, Palmer
RB: Trent Richardson, DeMarco Murray, Eddie Lacy, Daryl Richardson, Mendenhall
WR: Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall, Victor Cruz, Antonio Brown, Greg Jennings
TE: Greg Olsen, Jared Cook
DEF: Arizona
K: Justin Tucker

His team:
QB: Rodgers, Kaep
RB: Ivory, Montee Ball, Green-Ellis, Moreno
WR: Demaryius Thomas, Reggie Wayne, Greg Little, Josh Gordon, Hankerson, Tavon Austin
TE: Rudolph, Gresham
DEF: Rams
K: Matt Bryant

I first offered him Richardson and Wilson for Kaepernick and he said no. I then offered Richardson, Mendenhall, and Olsen for Kaepernick plus filler and he still said no. He countered with Kaepernick for Lacy (or Murray), or Kaepernick and one of his RBs for Lacy and Richardson. I think the only RB of his I'd consider is Ball. My worry in trading Lacy is that he's basically my insurance for if (when) Murray gets hurt. I suppose either Richardson or Mendy could offer similar things, but I'm also worried that Lacy could end up blowing up and I'll have missed out.

So, should I do either of the deals he countered with? Or try to come up with a better package? I don't usually do trades as I tend to be risk averse.

Leave a link and I'll help you out. Thanks.

I can't believe he turned down your first offer. Kap for Murray seems find to me though. Just play Lacey as your 2nd rb and I think you're team improves overall.

He definitely needs a RB upgrade and really has none to offer even though he states he will trade one. I think that Murray for Kap is fair only because the upgrade at the QB position without devestating your RB core. Add to this the very lucrative scoring for passing td's and I think I would do the trade. Remember Murray is injury prone and Lacy is fresh!

He's got a lot bigger problems at RB than you have at QB. I'm surprised he didn't take either of your first two offers with how big his need is at RB. If you want the QB upgrade, it looks like Murray for Kaep is the way to go.

Kaep for Murray sounds like a good deal. You have the running back depth to go through with this trade and will still have Wilson as a trade chip for later down the road. ;-D

Thanks for the help

Thanks for all the responses so far. I'm trying to keep bargaining with him, since I have all the leverage and his RBs are trash. If I can convince him to take Daryl Richardson, Mendenhall, and Olsen for Kaepernick and Gresham (who I'd cut in favor of Celek anyway), would you agree that this is better for me than Murray for Kaep straight up?

I might honestly favor trading Murray for Kaep straight up as it seems you may ruin your depth at RB if you go the other route. Thanks for the help on mine!

Kaep for Murray is definitely a good deal. I am sure Murray will be hurt in the next few weeks anyways.
