Gore + Colston for Lacy + Demaryius (WHIR)

Postby rbem84 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 8:25 pm

Setup: 12-team, standard scoring league. Starts 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 K, 1 TM.

My current team (starters in italics):
QB: Robert Griffin III, Brandon Weeden
RB: Adrian Peterson, Matt Forte, Frank Gore, Lamar Miller, Rashard Mendenhall
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Danny Amendola (inj), Marques Colston, Vincent Brown, Josh Gordon
TE: Jermichael Finley

Trade (I'm potentially offering): Frank Gore + Marques Colston for Eddie Lacy + Demaryius Thomas

I have not offered this trade but am considering doing so. The other team presently has only McFadden, Lacy, and Billal Powell at RB. He's got Demaryius, Stevie Johnson, Golden Tate, and Jerome Simpson at WR.

I feel like I'm upgrading my WRs significantly at the expense of some RB depth (Gore is not generally a starter for me, even at flex, anyway). My opponent gets an upgrade over all of his RBs for a downgrade at WR.

A) Does this trade seem fair? Is Gore a good enough upgrade for him? I'd consider Forte instead but I feel like I'm potentially getting the worse end of the deal if I do Forte.
B) Looking at my team, does this look worth pursuing for me?

Thanks in advance. I'll be glad to help with your questions if you leave a link to your thread.

This seems like a fair trade all around value-wise, and it really just comes down to who you prefer. I feel like I rate Colston higher than most people, so I may be hesitant to pull the trigger. I think you may be better off trying to swing Mendenhall for Golden Tate -- I don't see a situation where Mendenhall plays for you, and Tate gives you solid depth if Amendola's injury keeps him out a significant amount of time and/or Vincent Brown doesn't develop into an interesting fantasy commodity.

Absolutely do that trade if youc an do it. I mean Gore's got all those miles and switching to some younger talent is not a bad idea. I mean Thomas is younger than Colston by a couple years and equally as good so why not. Gore has Hunter breathing down his neck, not to mention beyond this season a guy I personally love that SF stole out of the draft (Marcus Lattimore) may overtake all of them to become the feature back as he works his way back from Willis McGahee injury XD.
