Bye Week Blues - Andy Dalton

Postby leffe186 » Tue Sep 24, 2013 1:48 pm

The first bye week, and my team is a bit thin. My main question mark is at QB. Cam Newton is on bye, and Dalton makes me nervous, but there isn't much on the wire. Is there anyone you would dump Dalton for?

The options:
Schaub vs Seahawks
Locker vs Jets
Geno Smith @ Titans
Ponder vs Steelers
Palmer @ Tampa Bay
Freeman vs Cardinals
Henne vs Colts
Hoyer vs Bengals

I hate them all, but am a little tempted by Smith and Hoyer. Decent upside for both, but the potential for disaster.

WHIR, of course.

I'd stick with Dalton. But you're right, it's a list of underwhelming options.

BOLD PICKS FOR 2013
A. Rodgers outscores D. Brees in ESPN standard scoring by 40+.
D. McFadden plays 16 games (but ineffectively for someone whose only problem we always assumed was health).
M. Lynch=not a Top 10 RB.
V. Cruz=Top 7 WR.
G. Tate=Top 36 WR.

Dalton is due for a big game soon. Out of the available QBs I like Geno best. High ceiling on him and can do it with his legs if the arm isn't working. Holmes and Hill looked reliable last week too.

Schedule-wise, Freeman has the best matchup against pass defense as he's going against the Cardinals. But it's Josh Freeman, so,no.

Dalton has an above avg matchup against Browns pass defense.

I'd go with Dalton as at least he won't kill you. You should score at least 15 pts. Geno Smith may continue to play ok but remember that the way Holmes and Hill went off last week, part of it was Buffalo was missing their whole secondary.
