Use #1 Waiver now?! KC Defense?! WHIR

Postby CineMamet » Tue Sep 24, 2013 4:47 pm

I have the #1 Waiver spot. Should I use it on Kansas City Defense? They are #1 per game and have a nice 3-game schedule ahead.\

Or use it on Bryce Brown or save it?

Available:
Kansas City Defense
Bryce Brown (more of a home run stash)
Brandon Bolden (not a PPR league, so worth it in a timeshare?)
Shane Vereen (out for another 6 weeks?)
Stephen Hill
Johnathan Franklin (bye, and Lacy will be back)

10-team League. 5 + bonus for 100 yds rush/rec. 5+ bonus for 300+ pass. Not a PPR.

My Roster
QB - Tony Romo
WR - Brandon Marshall
WR - Demaryius Thomas
WR - Eric Decker
RB - CJ Spiller
RB - Reggie Bush
TE - Martellus Bennett
Flex - Josh Gordon
Flex - Fred Jackson
Bench:
Daryl Richardson
Le'Veon Bell
Michael Floyd
Alshon Jeffery
Christine Michael
C.J. Anderson
Mikel Leshoure

I am surprisingly going to go with KC defense. My only concern is they could get torched by NYG. I know they have been playing like shit lately, but they have the weapons to get hot at any time. If they continue to struggle the way they have been, then like you said, you are set for the next 3 weeks at Defense. TEN and OAK will be a nice streak to play and even after the texans you have Browns and Bills. So either way, I would say KC defense.

I don't see what current defense you have, the KC defense has a pretty nice schedule and they've been out of control. I would definitely grab them over Brown.

Help with mine?

Thanks. Yeah, NYG can definitely light up points despite being shut out on Sunday, it would be banking on Eli throwing 4 INT's, a pick 6 and KC really looks like they have maybe the best defense in the AFC.

I have never used a Waiver spot, let alone the #1 on a Defense so I may indeed go with it.

I guess they are the best option available. I tend to save my #1 waiver spots, maybe too long as I want to make sure I need it.

I'm only streaming defenses, got burnt by picking up Buffalo on Sunday. So by picking up KC, I can just sit and not have to worry about adding at least for the next 5 weeks.

relying on Eli for interceptions sounds like a winning strategy. I would take the Chiefs D, because they aren't just putting up fantasy numbers, they look like a legit D.

KC D most definitely. Their schedule (aside from Denver) is quite nice. Their pass rush ability is huge and they have above average corners. The NT, Dontari Poe, is just under 350 lbs and has amazing athleticism for a guy that big. Their LB's are definitely one of the best at pass rushing in the NFL. This team now has someone they will play for and it's making a huge difference. They are definitely not 2-14. The biggest change was the QB. Other personnel has been added, but for the most part the majority of the same players are still around.

Thanks. I have always streamed defenses so this could be the first year where I can sit back for a few weeks, if not the whole year, and let the D be with KC.
