What WR/TE to start in flex? WHIR

Postby snaddles » Thu Oct 10, 2013 10:06 pm

I have 4 open spots and 5 guys who I'm torn about starting. Here are names / cases for starting:

Andre Johnson - No Owen Daniels against STL's 26th ranked WR pass defense
Vincent Jackson - Eagles 31st ranked WR pass D coming off a bye week to sync with QB
Cecil Shorts - Henne loves him and they're going to be down vs Den. Den 30th ranked WR pass defense
Jason Witten - Loves playing at home vs soft WSH 20th ranked TE pass defense
Antonio Gates - Tougher matchup vs Indy but been great so far this year

Who should I sit?

VJax, Shorts and Witten are the easy choices. With the last slot I'd give the slight edge to Gates, Rivers is better than expected and Gates is still a huge red-zone target. Johnson is a game time decision and Schaub has been awful. I think Houston is going to run as much as possible to keep the INT's off the board.

HELP?!?

Thanks for helping with mine.

Andre is shaping up to be a game-time decision, so keep that in mind. If he plays for Houston he plays for you, though. With a healthy Andre, you start Johnson (no-brainer), Witten (another no-brainer), Shorts (Jax will be throwing a ton as they try in vain to catch the Broncos), and VJax (matchup). VJax/Gates is the toughest call for me, but I think VJax's matchup combined with other threats emerging in the SD pass game (Brown, Allen, Woodhead) make Gates the sit this week. Give VJax one more shot--if he doesn't gel wtih Glennon this week, you have my permission to bench his ass ;-D .

If Johnson is able to play (which seems likely), I would sit Jackson. The others have bigger upside in my opinion.

Thanks for the help with mine.

Vincent would be on my bench out of those.
