Martin & Colston for TRich & Fitz? WHIR

Postby BohicanRhapsody » Tue Oct 15, 2013 9:34 am

Got offered a trade last night: I receive Trent Richardson and Larry Fitzgerald for giving up Doug Martin and Marques Colston. I still like D. Martin's volume in games but absolutely hate watching Colston play and be ignored by Brees (even after Graham goes out). I'm not ecstatic about trading Martin for TRich but I like getting Fitz for Colston. I'm leaning towards declining but wanted the peanut gallery's thoughts. How bout it?

Standard 12 team league (QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, FLEX, K, DST, 5 BENCH)

My roster:

Colin Kaepernick - QB
Calvin Johnson - WR
Marques Colston - WR
Doug Martin - RB
Reggie Bush - RB
Heath Miller - TE
Steve Smith - FLEX
Matt Prater - K
Chicago - D/ST

BENCH:
Ben Roethlisberger
Lamar Miller
Bryce Brown
Percy Harvin
Andre Brown

Yeah, this seems like a decent deal. You win the WR side for sure. I wouldn't worry too much about giving up Martin; he and TRich are equally "meh" players this year, IMO, and the RB side of things is a wash. If your opponent is higher on Martin than TRich, I think he'll accept this one for sure.

Tempting offer but I would decline based on the Martin to Richardson swap in RB's. Martin is still getting 20+ touches a game so the value is there for him, just lacking more performance. I like Richardson myself but until he shows more explosion through the line he will be nothing more than a low RB2-RB3 option. You have no depth at RB so I would decline the offer as is.

I don't like this trade. Richardson has looked BAD this year. Doug Martin has looked average. Your RB depth is lacking as is.

I understand wanting a good receiver though, is Justin Blackmon still on the wire in your league?

I don't think I would do the trade. Trust me, as a Saints fan and Colston owner, it was very frustrating watch Colston only get 1 Rec on Sunday. But I like Colston ok going forward (maybe equal or even more than Fitz) for 3 reasons:

1. The Saints schedule is a lot less tough than the Cards
2. Colston has been Brees #1 target since he has been in NOLA (although Graham the last 2 years)
3. Colston has Brees throwing to him, Fitz has Palmer

I don't think I would do this trade, I would hold out on Colston. I fully expect the Saints offense to be 100 percent coming off the bye week and Brees will have plenty of passes to go around. I wouldn't want to give up Martin, who has a rookie QB under center.

Blackmon was taken awhile ago. Tough to find good help these days on the WW.
